In other news, we bought carpet and wood floor (for the bedrooms) last week.
Also, Chris put on the door handles/locks for the front door (still not stained) and the downstairs patio door. The front door knob/plate is an antique my dad gave me (he has a matching one on his front foyer door) and we powder coated it black.
Chris picked up the rest of the doors and trim and base yesterday (Tues) from Central City.
And...flooring decisions have been made:
There will be carpet in the master bedroom, the baby's room (the bedroom by our room), the livingroom, and the playroom. There will be wood floor in the kitchen and dining room, as well as the two bedrooms on the east side. The front and back entry will be tile. And the bathrooms, laundry room, and pantry will be vinyl.
Anyone up for helping us paint (aka you want to get out of the house, you want to be kind and generous, you are just itching to paint something, etc. We'll take any reasons!) give Chris or Anne a call.....you will not be turned down! :)
One more new development:
Because of the 2007 bridge collapse in Minnesota, they made new federal guidelines regulating all bridges. Because our bridge has a concrete deck and wood piling (still good), our bridge has to be inspected. (If the bridge had a wood deck with wood piling, it would not be closed.) So these are the signs you see on County Road I. It could be a rather permanent fixture (up to 2 years. There were about 60 bridges in the county that didn't meet federal regulations). So you can either go around the barricade and risk your life crossing the bridge (which has had fully loaded concrete trucks and a semi-truck bringing things to our land) or you can access our place from County Road 20. (You'll still have to go around a barricade that says "Road Closed" but you won't have to go over the bridge.)
