Dad finished the front porch columns. Now we just need to pick out the stone. The top will be a paneled column made of cement board (same material as siding) and the bottom will have stacked stone. This is one of "the" features of Craftsman houses that I love so thanks Dad!
Chris added more low-voltage wiring (the skinny blue and gray wires in the photo), running TV and internet to each room "just in case" we want it down the road.
Chris and Dad worked on the window seat in the "flex room" (The window seat is open underneath, so I'll get to store baskets of toys there as the "flex room" is going to start out as a playroom). They notched out the framework and put a piece of tube steel across so that we wouldn't have to put any supports below it. Then it's going to have a piece of oak sitting on top of that and then a cushion....and with two can lights above it, it's ready for comfy reading sessions!
