Animal Changes
On Wed, Sept. 8, we got a mama cat from my aunt Cyndi and uncle Frank who live near Yutan. She had her babies less than a week! later on Tues, Sept. 14th. There are six kittens, one gray, one black, and four that have the same coloring as the mama (we named her Missy). Max claimed the black one and named it "October." Ben claimed the gray one and named it "Lightning." Their cousin Grace is claiming one too (but it'll live at our house), and has already named it "Lily." We thought it'd be fun for the kids to have kittens, but we needed a grown cat too, to catch mice.
Today, Friday, Sept. 17th, we are giving away Sammy, our goose. He has been a good pet, always honking at us when we pull in the driveway, protecting our chickens (fought off a dog once, until I heard the commotion and helped him out!), and following us around. We've enjoyed it and it was fun raising them from goslings. However, when we introduced our six new chicks into the coop (separated by chicken wire), he started becoming defensive and has nipped at Sebastian's shorts a few times so we told the kids we have to keep Sebastian safe and he needs to go away. So I posted him on craigslist! (after trying a few local options with no luck) and a family is coming to take him to live on their acreage.
