Chicken Coop

Any projects at the house have been put on hold to build a suitable dwelling for the chickens. We started with fifteen chickens, added two geese, Sammy & Lucy (gifts from Grandma & Grandpa Pleskac), subtracted a chicken and a goose (Fri, June 4; suspect: neighbor's dog). We had been keeping them all in a temporary home in the garage. Ever since the concrete was poured May 20, Chris has been working on the coop here and there when he can: putting up walls, roof joist, siding, cutting out for windows.
Today, Tuesday, June 8th, he was able to tar paper the roof (we've had a lot of rain lately so I'm sure they'll be happy) and he also painted it a beautiful 'barn red'. He nailed most of the windows into place so later he'll have to cut out for/install the last of them and then come back and create pieces for them to slide up and down on. He also has to hang the two doors, add the trim, and shingle the roof. But the nesting boxes are inside, and they're staying in there each night. Home sweet home!

Here's a pic with the new truck and skid steer.......
